Derek had six nominations for our 2025-2026 DAISY Award here at TSSH! Here is one of the nominations:

Derek was beyond great. Having just lost my 4-year-old daughter to medical complications just a few months ago, Derek was understanding and compassionate of my anxiety during this medical process and recovery. Not only did he provide excellent care to my child, but to me. Derek was very nice and extremely reassuring. He didn’t rush us and answered all of our questions. As a RN myself, this is refreshing and highlights what nursing should really be about.
