Denis made sure I was comfortable and had everything needed at all times. His professional and personal qualities made my unexpected overnight stay as pleasant as possible. He even held my dressing gown closed at the back when I got up to use the restroom. Highly recommend.

I had surgery 2/2 (PAO), and Denis was one of the first nurses I really remember meeting. Denis introduced himself with a big smile, said, “Mrs., before I do anything else, I want to ask: Is it okay to wake you when medication is due to keep things on track?” I instantly felt relieved knowing I wouldn’t have to fight to keep my pain on track.

He also informed me of everything he wanted me to accomplish, explained how to get there, and cheered when I hit important milestones in my acute recovery. One thing that stood out was the second night (Denis was with me again). I had an immense amount of pain. The kind that stops you in your tracks and immediately, tears were streaming. I felt so bad for crying so hard, especially because I was doing so well during the day. Denis didn’t make me feel bad about it. In fact, he allowed me to let it out, assured me that this was a tough recovery, and I was doing so well.

He spent way more time than I know he probably had getting me back in bed and making sure I was comfortable. He also explained what a typical recovery looks like, which made me feel better, that I wasn’t behind. Anytime he left, he said, “Please call me if there is anything that comes up.”

I did not realize how much this surgery really was going to be, and Denis truly made the first days of recovery bearable. I am forever grateful for the care he gave me and the respect he treated my husband and I with.

Thank you, Denis!
