August 2026 Honoree
Debbie Green, RN, RNC-MNN
The nurse who stepped into our room was everything I needed and more. From the moment Debbie Green arrived, her presence brought calm. She treated me not just as a patient, but as a mother who had done this before and still deserved the same gentleness, respect, and support. Her thoughtful compassion met me where I was, honoring both my experience and my vulnerability.
She cared for my baby with constant love, nurturing each moment with patience and tenderness. Watching her hold and tend to my child reminded me that I wasn’t alone in those early hours. She supported my confidence while still offering guidance, never assuming, always asking, always listening.
As a second-time mom, I was balancing familiarity with new emotions—comparing, remembering, feeling deeply all over again. Debbie noticed. She checked in on me, encouraged rest, and reminded me to care for myself just as much as I cared for my baby. Her compassion was steady and genuine, not rushed or routine.
In one of the most intimate and meaningful moments of my life, she showed up with kindness, warmth, and unwavering care. Her presence made the experience softer, safer, and more supported. She was a reminder that even when you’ve walked this path before, love and compassion still matter just as much.
She wasn’t just a nurse providing postpartum care. She was a source of comfort, confidence, and calm—someone whose constant nurturing and compassion made all the difference for me and my baby, the second time around.
Debbie was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. It was a huge relief for us. Once the shift change happened and they suggested a C-section, things got much better. The staff who performed the C-section were great, and once we got to postpartum and met with Debbie, we were reassured in our decision to give birth here. Debbie checked with us constantly, ensuring my wife regained mobility after the drugs she was given. Each visit from Debbie was great; she answered our questions and also made sure to ask if other support personnel (lactation consultant, PT, etc.) had visited us. She also gave us excellent tips and suggestions for all sorts of things, such as good burping positions and techniques for a newborn as small as ours. Honestly, all the nurses assigned to us in postpartum were excellent, but Debbie was incredibly attentive throughout, and we are absolutely blessed to have had her.
