I am 23 years old, pregnant for the first time, and had to have a D&C. I was so scared going in about being put under and also just sad and really upset about losing my first baby. Dawn went above and beyond from the moment she walked in, she made sure I was comfortable, understood everything, and comforted me. She spoke to me on a personal level about other things I was going through (GI issues) and let me know she went through the same thing, and even gave me a doctor's reference for whom to go to. At the end, she had to have me fill out paperwork, and at the top, it asked for my child’s name, date of birth, gender, etc. She held it close to her chest and said I have to give you this, please ignore the top (asking for baby info), and I am so sorry I have to ask you to fill it out. When she came and received it, she gave me a hug and apologized again. You could tell she understood the depth of having to see a document asking questions about my baby when I just had a D&C. She called me mom and called my fiancè dad, which was just so touching and heartwarming. You could tell she truly cared for her patients and enjoyed her job. I’ve never had a nurse put so much care into as she did, and I truly believe mentally, the surgery wouldn’t have gone so smoothly if it wasn’t for her.
