She helped us clean up my father while we waited for the funeral home to arrive, and she did so with much respect, gentleness, and care.
During weekly visits, Dawn was nothing short of supportive, understanding, caring, and respectful. She understood that my father's condition (LBD) was complex and the difficulties that he and I, as caregivers, encountered. Regardless of how many times we had questions or concerns, even when repetitive, she answered respectfully and with compassion to our ongoing concerns. Since the beginning of care through Mountain Valley Hospice, my dad's care team was made aware of his brain donation for further research into LBD. Upon his passing, although she had just checked in on him for his weekly check-ups, she was swift in responding to our call to pronounce him. Her understanding and swiftness allowed for my dad's brain donation to take place within 2 hours of his passing. This timeframe was always a huge concern for me, as I wanted to be certain they would receive his body in a timely manner. Once pronounced, her continued care and compassion did not stop. She helped us clean up my father while we waited for the funeral home to arrive, and she did so with much respect, gentleness, and care. I will forever be grateful to her for being so compassionate and respectful to both us and my father's dignity - especially during that time to help clean him up. She made sure to emphasize that if we needed anything else, we were more than welcome to reach out, even though her patient (my dad) was no longer with us. It truly does not go unseen the love, patience, and care that Dawn brings to her role with her patients and their families.
