Davidson embodies the qualities we hope to see in every future nurse: compassionate care, professional excellence, initiative, and integrity.
It is my pleasure to nominate Davidson Reyes for the DAISY Award for Nursing Students. Throughout his time in the SFA nursing program, he has consistently demonstrated the compassion, professionalism, and clinical excellence that exemplify the values of nursing and the spirit of the DAISY Award.
I first had the privilege of working with Davidson during his second semester, when in my class and clinical group in Women's and Children's I. During that time, I received numerous unsolicited compliments from various preceptors who worked with him. They repeatedly commented on his attentiveness to patients, initiative in the clinical setting, and his overall professionalism. Davidson was always eager to learn and consistently went above and beyond to ensure that his patients received the best possible care. Although he was not in my clinical group during his third semester, our groups were assigned to the same hospital unit. Even then, Davidson's reputation for excellence continued to shine.
One day, a patient's family member specifically sought me out to share how impressed they were with the care that he had provided to their loved one. On that very same day, the unit director approached me to express the same sentiment regarding Davidson. His empathy, clinical skill, and professionalism had clearly made a lasting impact.
Most recently, during his fourth semester, I received a message from a personal friend and colleague who is an SFA Nursing alumna. She wanted to share how impressed she had been with one of our nursing students during a leadership rotation. She described Davidson as professional, personable, and an exceptional representative of the SFA School of Nursing. She said his demeanor and performance made her proud to be an alumna of our program.
