When I went to the ER, I was scared, alone, and hurting. It wasn't until I moved to the 10th floor that I met David. He is soft spoken, and did not ignore me even if it was something small. He never lost patience even though he had to repeat to himself. Most importantly, he was kind; he made me feel like a person, not a patient. He answered questions no matter how silly.
He got me to laugh, and he treated my body with respect and dignity when giving shots or tying my gown. He is very knowledgeable and knew I would need help when I left, so he made sure I had the necessary information for future medical channels to help me keep getting better. David is one in a million nurse, and you all are blessed to have him here.
It would be great if more of our nurses emulated him, learned and acted more like him. Sometimes, with patients, it isn't always about the medicine, but about the staff and the personality to make us feel like we matter.
Thanks, David.
