He anticipated his needs and took action before a request could be made. Instead of doing the minimum of care, Dave did the maximum to ensure Dad’s comfort.
My 81-year-old father was admitted in November of 2025. He was diagnosed with RSV and was extremely ill. This was his first major illness since my Mom’s passing the year before. It was both an emotional and scary time for us, being in uncharted waters.
Dave was an exceptional nurse to Dad. He anticipated his needs and took action before a request could be made. Instead of doing the minimum of care, Dave did the maximum to ensure Dad’s comfort. A simple act of adding moisture to the oxygen line so that Dad’s nasal passages didn’t become irritated and bleeding was a touch that meant a lot to us.
That and many other countless examples showed us that to Dave, nursing isn’t just a job, it is truly a calling and a way to touch people’s lives. We are thankful and blessed that Dave was a part of my Dad’s healing journey.
