When my husband and I moved from Ford's Colony to Patriots Colony 26 years ago, this nurse delivered our newspapers. He was putting himself through nursing school. Some years later, the head housekeeper called and asked if I would object to having a black male housekeeper. "For heaven's sake," I said, "I don't care if he is a green or purple or pink martian, if he can make a bed properly and clean well." Darrin was a very good housekeeper! 

Some years after my husband died, I was diagnosed with chronic vertigo. It was time for me to move to assisted living. Much to my great joy, this nurse was sitting at the nurse's desk! He makes sure the CNAs do what I need, checks on me, etc. One day, when no CNA was available to change the linens on the bed, he did it. Needless to say, my golden years, and all those in the previous 26 before, would not have been so happy without this nurse.

He so richly deserves a DAISY Award. He's special! He's dedicated. He goes above and beyond! I am truly blessed by his involvement in my life!
