Darlene was with me during what was possibly the worst time following my surgery. Very scared and extremely sick, Darlene displayed the strong character I needed to get me through. She laid the foundation for the process of changing my dressings - part of her job perhaps yet she figured out the small tips to ease the pain. She offered advice on how to navigate the medical quagmire of modern medicine, offered kind cautions and wisdom. She took me into her care and protection totally. Even after her shift and assigned to other patients, she checked on me and always offered a smile and encouragement. Though God's grace will allow me to forget the pain, I will always remember her.
