Darcy was an integral part of my daughter, K's, recovery from an appendectomy. K's (17-year-old) appendix ruptured, so her recovery was a bit more intense than expected. Darcy was her nurse for two of the three days of her stay post-surgery, and she provided compassionate and professional care to K. What was notable with Darcy is that she took time to explain everything to me, as a parent, providing me with education on the process and why she was doing each procedure. The way she looked at K was so caring, and she was genuine in her interest in K as a person, including congratulatory notes in her room when K found out she got accepted to her first college application. She made her feel at ease, and K felt very comforted. She was overly accommodating, ensuring she was as comfortable as possible while ensuring that she was in compliance with her procedures. This award is not enough to express my gratitude for the kind of passionate care she provided K.
