Darcy didn't hesitate holding my hands and looking me in the eyes and talking me through everything that was going on and ensuring me it would only feel like a bee sting.
I went into labor hours before my scheduled C-section and ended up having to rush from Chisholm to Grand Rapids, so I called on our way and warned the nurses I was on my way. We ended up getting pulled over for speeding, and I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Upon arriving, Darcy met me at the entrance, and I immediately knew she would be the best nurse. She immediately took me back, started taking care of me, and ensured that everything would be okay. When we finally were taken back to the OR, I had the privilege of having Darcy as my OR nurse as well and I was terrified of the spinal tap and couldn't talk I was crying so hard. Darcy didn't hesitate holding my hands and looking me in the eyes and talking me through everything that was going on and ensuring me it would only feel like a bee sting. She was trying to change the subject and talk to me about other things while holding my hands and keeping me calm.
Fast forward to the next day, I ended up starting to bleed out and needed emergency surgery. My mom and fiancé were a nervous wreck, and in my mom's words, Darcy was amazing. She knew how worried my family was and sat in my room with them, hugging them and comforting them for as long as they needed before going to the OR herself and checking on me to come back to my family and give them an update that I was doing okay. I will never be able to say enough about Darcy. Anytime I tell my birth story, she is always in it because I am convinced she is an angel that got sent to us in our biggest time of need. So, thank you, Darcy, for everything.
