Her students and colleagues describe her as a dedicated, respectful, compassionate, and patient role model who made an extraordinary impact on their academic journey as students and staff.
Dr. Arend has over 25 years’ experience as a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner. She has an extensive background in Women’s Health, working in acute care and clinic settings in both private and military hospitals. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of North Dakota, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University. Dr. Arend has been with Chamberlain University San Antonio Campus since January 2024. She currently teaches the following courses: NR103-Transition to Nursing, NR222 Health and Wellness, NR302/NR304 Health Assessments 1 and 2, as well as NR327 Maternal-Child. Dr. Arend goes above and beyond for the campus, so much so that she stepped out of her comfort zone to teach NR283 Pathophysiology, in a pinch, when we had no other options. She did so, willing to ensure the students had a faculty on site to ensure the success of the students. Dr. Arend has also picked up a clinical course for NR327 when we had no one available to teach. There are countless times when Dr. Arend has stood in the gap for the San Antonio Campus! Her students and colleagues describe her as a dedicated, respectful, compassionate, and patient role model who made an extraordinary impact on their academic journey as students and staff. Overall, Dr. Arend exemplifies Chamberlin CARE traits and is well deserving of being this year’s recipient for the DAISY Nurse Educator Award.
