I was admitted to the hospital in late January for complications stemming from osteomyelitis/meningitis. Danielle was working in the overflow section of the old part of the hospital when I met her. She was my nurse and I am beyond grateful to her for her kindness, compassion, and exceptional care. Danielle is a bright and cheerful nurse who lit up my room with great conversation and funny anecdotes.
My fiancé and his sister were with me around the clock, and they became very fond of Danielle. She was one of those nurses who simply made her work seem effortless. If my fiancé needed information or updates on my condition, Danielle would promptly address his concerns- as if his worries were the only worries she needed to assess. My fiancé's sister is an RN, and she is naturally vigilant (and sometimes hypercritical) in all health events involving her loved ones. She adored Danielle because she gave her the straight truth- nurse to nurse. Danielle is one of those nurses who could switch from a light manner to a quick thinking, resourceful, and action oriented professional in a hot second. She watched my vitals carefully and spotted trends over the course of her shift. She was very communicative with my team of doctors, refusing to take a passive voice when advocating on my behalf. This was very evident when I was moved to another unit. Danielle happened to be assigned to the unit- and my room! Thank goodness! My fiancé, his sister, and I were becoming hopeless and defeated. My condition was not improving. Danielle listened with great empathy. She, again, advocated for me, and with Danielle's help, we were able to turn my treatment around.
Danielle's voice, her ability to stand still and listen to her patient, and her dedication to leaving her patients in better condition than when she was first assigned to them, makes her outstanding in her profession.
