Danielle Hart is an RN whom I have had the pleasure of watching grow in her professional life. Growth in a profession like nursing isn’t specific to skills; growth can include spiritual growth. Danielle shows compassion, hospitality, stewardship, reverence, and total dedication to ensure that every patient she encounters has the best care and experience possible during their visit to our facility.

I know of two situations recently where Danielle has stepped out of her role as a bedside nurse and utilized her knowledge as a Case Manager and completed post forms so elderly patients were not stuck lying in the ED waiting for placement because of a missing link of documentation. Danielle took the time to retrieve the post forms, get them completed by the ED provider, and close the link to get two patients on their way to a nursing home. These documents were holding up the admission process, and there was no social worker available. I truly can say that not every nurse will take these extra steps, but Danielle will every time she is faced with these situations to ensure the best outcome for her patients. She is a representative of a nurse that all nursing staff should strive to be. She is a role model who stands out when you step back and observe. She has stayed over numerous times to transport patients with a BLS crew because of a lack of ALS coverage. She stays to ensure continuity of care for her patients. She comes in on her days off to cover call-offs or uncovered shifts and even on high-volume nights to lend a helping hand. Danielle goes that extra mile when she could simply not answer the phone or go home to her own family.

Danielle Hart is a flower in the mix of the ED, a representation of St. Joseph’s Hospital’s best. A true DAISY Nurse who needs to be recognized for her commitment and dedication not only to patients but to her fellow coworkers and the organization
