She treated me with such kindness and compassion while getting the job done and maintaining my dignity.
Last month I had a 6-day hospital visit at the new Valley Hospital and was treated for internal bleeding. While there, quite by accident, they discovered a growth on my lung. They took 2 CT scans, which were inconclusive, then a biopsy, which was negative. Ultimately, it was decided I should have a Pet Scan. I am a 92-year-old man, so you can just imagine how upset, frustrated, and nervous I was at this point. I arrived at the Valley Health System, Ridgewood Campus, for a (fasting) 2pm test. Danielle, the nurse on duty, saw that I was shaky and weak. She checked my vitals, saw that I am a diabetic on my chart and went right into action. She treated me with such kindness and compassion while getting the job done and maintaining my dignity. She put me right into a wheelchair, helped me take off my top layer of clothes, and put a gown on so that I wouldn’t have to go in and out of the changing room and exert myself. She allowed my wife to stay by my side and wait right there in the changing room for me to finish the test. She made it so quick and accurate that I was put at ease immediately. When she finished, she came right in with some juice and crackers and insisted I take my time and eat something to calm the diabetic symptoms. She treated me like I was her grandfather. Then she helped me dress and personally took me downstairs to the lobby and waited until my wife drove to the door. I just wanted to bring to your attention this impressive young woman, she is certainly an asset to Valley Hospital, and I see a great future for her. She is just one more reason that I have been a patient of the Valley Hospital and a loyal patient to all of my doctors there for over 35 years.
