A patient had come to Georgia to visit her brother, but after her brother passed, she then lived with a friend and caretaker. Due to agitation, the patient was sent to inpatient psych. She lost contact with her family in Alabama and her caretaker. She could only remember her sister’s name and place of employment.

The patient was deemed homeless with no next of kin. Danielle established a rapport with the patient and obtained information about her family. She then contacted Summit Ridge and obtained contact info for the patient’s sister and caretaker. She called both her sister and caretaker to inform them of her location and that she was safe. The family was so relieved to make contact with their loved one after so much time.

Since connecting with her sister, the patient was able to talk with other family members. If you could hear the relief in the families’ voices and the peace it brought to the patient. She is now able to make contact with her family and loved ones. As it turns out, this patient was loved by many. Because of Danielle's compassion, dedication, and persistence in improving the lives of her patients, this one patient can now go to rehab, then be discharged to her caretaker instead of being placed in a facility.

The patient continues to express her gratitude for her heart and love. Nursing is about making a difference, and Danielle understands that!
