Danica was nominated by her patient for the compassion and support she provided. "I was admitted to 5 West a few weeks ago, via the ER and have been diagnosed with stage 4 stomach/esophageal cancer that has spread to my liver and lymph nodes. A diagnosis that no one wants to be given and one I never dreamed of having myself. Nevertheless, I wanted to nominate and recognize Danica, RN for the DAISY Award. I have been fortunate to have Danica, RN for the night shift RN for several shifts during my recuperation here on 5 West. Danica, RN is very bright, knowledgeable and professional. She took the time to explain all procedures, medications, etc. which allayed my anxieties and fears. Especially on night shift and during the middle of the night when family and friends are usually sleeping, Danica was there with a calm, soothing and relaxing voice. Danica, RN was always very positive and reassuring and was 100% genuine, authentic, compassionate, empathetic and optimistic. I truly believe that Danica, RN was a great source of recover, well-being and quality of life. Thank you for allowing me the time to recognize, nominate and express how incredible a nurse that Danica was/is. She is certainly an asset to the patients, the unit, and the hospital itself. I want to publicly say "thank you" to Danica, RN for the incredible care and wise advice. I will never forget you and your kindness."
