Ms. McNeill is a tireless advocate for all of her patients and shepherds them through some of the most challenging health events of their lives. As a cancer care nurse, she supports people who are undergoing treatment that is sometimes difficult to tolerate and that does not guarantee successful outcomes. Her ability to listen to their concerns and then act to address them reassures patients and, in meaningful ways, shows them that they are not alone. Rather than sharing an individual story, I can attest that Ms. McNeill has succeeded in cultivating a warm environment and a supportive culture for the patients who are served in colposcopy and GYN oncology.

I am not a patient. I am a Nurse Practitioner who works with Ms. McNeil in the GYN oncology department. Ms. McNeil is an amazing nurse, the best caring nurse I have worked with. She goes above and beyond to care for our patients. She follows up with the social worker to make sure that their social and psychological needs are met. She calls patients at home to ensure they are taking their medications and keeping their appointments. She goes as far as guiding them through their immigration applications for those who need Visa extensions. She makes calls just to check on our patients and help them keep track of their appointments outside our department. She advocates for our patients and makes extra efforts to get them the earliest appointment if they are referred to other specialties. She follows up with other specialty recommendations to ensure that our patients receive the best quality care they need in a timely manner. I can go on and on. A nurse like Ms. McNeil deserves to be recognized for the awesome work and care she gives to our patients.
