Cindy has done a fantastic job helping her peers eliminate all falls, CAUTIs, CLABSIs, and C. Diff events.
Cindy works as a staff nurse on our med-surg unit. With the abrupt departure of our CPNL in October 2024, Cindy was asked by the leadership team to fill in as the interim CPNL. We had chosen Cindy because she has the respect of the staff, leadership qualities, and a focus on quality that we needed. Cindy has filled in for us in the past for several months with great success. Cindy and the unit have shown a considerable improvement in our quality initiatives. In the past and over the last six weeks, Cindy has done a fantastic job helping her peers eliminate all falls, CAUTIs, CLABSIs, and C. Diff events. Her and our success have been achieved by her rounding on all bed alarms three times a day, questioning and eliminating all unnecessary lines and Foley catheters, and ensuring that all C. Diff rooms get their high-touch surfaces wiped down twice a day.

She huddles at 0700 and 1400 with all unit PCA's to take account of CHG bathing, both completed and needed. She also ensures that all unit PCA's and communicating with the prior and oncoming shift about stressors and refusals of care. She focuses on walking PCA reports and the conversation about the necessity of lines. Cindy follows up with the staff nurses and contacts the providers as needed to assist with Foley removals. The leadership team believes that Cindy's exceptional care for her patients and staff is a key factor in the unit's great success. Cindy transitioned back to her bedside nurse role in early January 2025, and we wanted to thank her with a DAISY Award for the phenomenal work she has done. She is a definite asset not only to the unit but also to our organization.
