I almost don't even have the words to describe how amazing Cynthia is. She is truly a special person and nurse. Cynthia comes to work with a "can do" attitude. She never, ever complains and others love working with her. Cynthia is not only loved in her home unit, the NICU, but also in the CICU and PICU where she staffs ECMO. She has an amazing work ethic and is just such a bright light at Children's Mercy. Cynthia is a role model for other nurses in the extraordinary care she provides her patients and families.

Cynthia is someone who goes above and beyond to help patients and staff members. She is an ECMO nurse and is often taking care of the sickest patients in the hospital. Cynthia volunteered to come in extra for a few hours several nights in a row just to help be able to break nurses for lunch because the need was there. She is always so selfless and truly cares for our patients and her co-workers. Thank you, Cynthia, for all that you do!

Cynthia Rice is a critical care staff RN that exemplifies what it's all about to be a service-driven clinician. She steps up during times of high census and short staffing because she truly wants each and every patient to be cared for in a high-quality manner. Her calm and collected demeanor is necessary for the intensive care setting, and she handles stressful situations with ease. While in high ECMO census, she picked up several ECMO shifts, knowing it was likely she would be in a COVID isolation room. I commended her for picking up the shift and she said it was the least she could do, she wanted to give back, as we were aware that our adult colleagues in the KC metro were struggling to provide ECMO pumps for all COVID patients needing this life-supporting therapy. Overall, Cynthia is an RN and ECMO specialist who always strives to do the right thing, be a team player, and above all, she is genuinely kind. We are so grateful to have her as part of the ECMO team at Children's Mercy.
