She saved my life that day, and I’m forever blessed and thankful for her.
I nominate Cindy Gray, a nurse practitioner with the Kettering Cancer Center. I am a patient as well as an employee. Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with cancer, and as many of us know, it will turn your life upside down. From day one, Cindy was supportive, caring, nurturing, and so kind and helpful to me. It definitely made a terrible situation seem bearable. I did not have a lot of hope, but what she did kept me going. Cindy saved my life literally.

I am grateful for all the meals my team members delivered. It helped us all a lot. One evening, Cindy dropped off for dinner, and I was not feeling well. She, of course, asked how I was. I thought maybe I had the flu as my legs were aching, and I was very tired. She took one look at my legs and said, “You need to go to the ER – looks like you have blood clots.” I went to the ER, and I had massive blood clots up my entire leg and in my lungs. She saved my life that day, and I’m forever blessed and thankful for her. She encourages me to text or call her anytime, day, or night with my concerns and questions. She is truly an amazing caregiver. Our patients are blessed by her compassionate care, and our team is blessed to call her a coworker and friend.
