May 2026 Honoree
Courtney Turner, RN
We came in with my father-in-law, who is suffering from many, many medical issues, including 50+ years of diabetes, four heart attacks, stents, open heart surgery, and most recently a Parkinson’s diagnosis. He was severely constipated and in excruciating pain; plus, his Parkinsons causes agitation and confusion.
Courtney walked into our room like a breath of fresh, joyful air, gave him excellent care with the biggest smile, and made an awful (and smelly) situation much better. Two enemas and a catheter, and she never, ever acted like what she was doing was less than fun.
What impressed me the most was how tender she was with him, even though it was very difficult for him to fully cooperate and do what she was asking him to do.
Also, he has an enlarged prostate, and having a catheter inserted was excruciating. I mentioned that he had success with a coude before and I was concerned that it might not be possible to have the “special” request honored, but when she came in with the catheter, she just smiled and said, “we’ve got you!”
Let me tell you, she was so skilled with that catheter that he didn’t even flinch! She talked him through everything and kept the most bubbly, happy attitude all night.
We could just hug her! We are so very grateful for the excellent and thoughtful care!
Thank you, Courtney, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
