I shudder to think what my life would be like if it weren’t for the expert skill and quick action of our RN Courtney. My wife and I were in labor with our first child. I had wanted kids my whole life, and it was finally happening. After 36 hrs of labor and 90 minutes of strenuous pushing, my wife had delivered us our pride and joy. However, my heart sank when he wasn’t crying. I looked at the midwife and instantly knew there was a problem as he was unresponsive and not breathing. A team, including nurse Courtney, rushed in to take my son to the warmer and begin resuscitation. The longest three minutes of my life as my wife cried in fear and I began to pray, trying to keep calm and her eyes on only me, not the horrifying scene 2 feet beside us as they scrambled to save him. Then, the most beautiful sound I will ever hear, his first cry out into the world, and my son was officially alive. His struggles were not over yet, as he spent the next three days in NICU. Under the watchful eye of Courtney, he soon regained strength in his lungs, and I am proud to say, we are bringing him home today. I will thank God every day for Courtney and cannot imagine what would have happened to my family if it were not for her. Thank you, Courtney, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
