Courtney is a leader who deserves recognition for the mental, emotional, and physical effort she puts into the Emergency Department. She is greatly appreciated by everyone in the ED, and she was recognized by one of our providers for her professionalism and leadership when a 17-month-old patient was brought in and resuscitated. She is always available and approachable. All ED staff are comfortable coming to her with their frustrations and she helps them feel validated. She also helps them understand how patient care and safety are a priority. Courtney doesn’t believe in “that’s not my job” or “not my patient”. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty and does what is needed without complaint, whether it is cleaning rooms, taking out trash, or walking patients to the bathroom. Courtney is a guru when it comes to ESI triage and has a brilliant perspective on patient care. She is an incredible nurse with amazing critical thinking skills. Courtney is a great leader and role model for the Emergency Department. She puts other people’s needs ahead of her own and is a great example of Shannon’s Values.
