Stop - Everybody out. Let me finish what I'm doing with her.
Cori is an amazing nurse. I'm crying as I write this post about her. I was due to have emergency gallbladder surgery. Surgery was running behind because there were no beds, and when I finally got back 2 1/2 hours later. Cori and J were amazing, but Cori is one heck of a nurse.
I was brought back to my room, and Cori and J came in. Cori tried to start my IV. It wouldn't start, which was fine. I told her to poke again - It's not a big deal, whatever. J was asking me questions and at this point, my IV wasn't even in yet; the OR nurse is already coming out wanting to take me back to surgery and asking questions interrupting Cori while she was talking to me; J just kept asking all these questions and I'm trying to answer her and then in comes the anesthesiologist asking me all these questions which I knew he had to do. But then he took over from Cori, like butted right in, and said, "Oh, let me start her IV". He didn't even look for another spot, just went directly into my wrist. I do have other veins that he could've gone into, but he didn't. He went straight for the wrist. At that point, you could tell that Cori was getting frustrated, and my anxiety was so bad, I was crying. My husband wasn't in the room, and Cori said, "Stop - Everybody out. Let me finish what I'm doing with her. You are rushing us. Her husband's not even back here. The poor girl has anxiety out of the roof. Give us a second." At that point they walked out and I guess the OR nurse suggested giving me some medication for my anxiety because I was crying. Cori asked someone to get my husband and bring him back to be with me. I just want to say that Cori is a well-deserved nurse. She is amazing as I sit here in tears writing this about her. It just goes to show that there are some really good people out there, and if it wasn't for her, my experience probably would have been horrible. She's the light at the end of a tunnel.
