I have worked closely with Collette for the past 4 years in the Primary care clinics at Louis Stokes VA Medical Center. Collette is a phenomenal, very caring, highly intelligent nurse who is always focused on excellent patient care and safety. She has a tremendous concern and patience for our veterans. She has a unique way of communicating with patients that helps them understand the complexity of their care and ensures follow-up.

A particular example (there are so many more) was a patient who had an alarming, significantly enlarged Aortic aneurysm noted on imaging. He needed urgent surgical evaluation. He was called several times by his physician to convince him to go to the emergency room and get the urgent evaluation he needed. The patient absolutely refused. Collette overheard the call and asked to speak with the patient. After a very clear discussion with the patient, in terms he could understand, she presented a very clear discussion of the problem, the needed treatment, and the consequences of not heeding medical advice. Sure enough, the patient agreed to go to the nearest ED for admission. He was admitted and received the aortic repair he needed. She saved his life!

This is just one example, there are many many more. She is truly wonderful to work with, highly motivated, and intelligent. She has been a nurse for over 20 years and continues to bring a wonderful attitude and exemplary work ethic every single day. I am so blessed to be working with her, and the patients are very fortunate to have her as their nurse.
