As both a patient and fellow employee, I want to thank Cody for the compassion and professionalism he demonstrated during a rather frightening and traumatic experience. I was in significant pain and overwhelmed with anxiety, and although I was slightly sedated, I remained very aware of my surroundings.

As I cried and began to hyperventilate from the intensity of pain, Cody acted quickly and advocated for additional medication to help manage my discomfort. What stood out most was his willingness to speak up when the provider attempted to restart the procedure before the medication had been administered. Cody firmly told the doctor that he had not yet finished drawing up the medications and reassured me, saying, “I won’t let him restart without them.”

After administering the medications, Cody stayed by my side, making conversation to help take my mind off the situation. His calm presence and insight from his past ICU experience helped me relax enough to get through the rest of the procedure. It is small, thoughtful acts such as these that truly distinguish a good nurse from an exceptional one. Cody made a meaningful difference in my care, and I’m incredibly grateful.
