Cody is a smart, caring, and dedicated caregiver
My husband, B, was admitted to St. Luke's with a-fib and viral pneumonia. Cody Palmer was his nurse for much of his nine-day stay and made a significant impact on his treatment and recovery. The first shift Cody saw B he noticed the pulse oximeter on B's finger was registering an oxygen level lower than the blood gas recently drawn. Plus, the monitor itself seemed to be malfunctioning. Cody switched out the monitor and found an earlobe attachment which immediately showed more consistent levels. This attention to detail had a significant impact on B's course of care. It showed he didn't need as high a level of oxygen as the original monitor indicated.
Several days later, B had a sudden drop in his blood pressure and oxygen saturation while sitting in a chair for the first time and while Cody was in his room. Cody calmly got B back into bed and administered increased oxygen. It was a very scary incident for B and really rattled me. Afterward, Cody kindly walked with me to the elevator, assuring me he would keep a close eye on B.
Later that day, Cody took a lot of time working with B on his oxygen levels and actually had him breathing room air while maintaining a reasonable saturation level. That was the beginning of my husband’s true recovery and I'm confident Cody made his eventual discharge possible. Cody is a smart, caring, and dedicated caregiver. My husband and I were so impressed with his knowledge, patience, and compassion. While B received excellent care as a patient at St. Luke's, Cody Palmer stood out among all his nurses and is a true credit to the hospital.

Since 2013, I have spent many weeks in a hospital. Also in the 1950s as a nurse. Never have I met anyone more compassionate, caring, and sensitive to one's needs as Cody. This young man stands 10 feet tall when I think of the rest I have known. Cody deserves the highest praise from his supervisors. St. Luke's is most fortunate to have him here. As a patient, I feel very blessed to have had him as my nurse. He will be an asset to the hospital and should be rewarded at the highest level.

Cody impressed me and my wife as a committed, truly caring, professional. He was very detailed in his explanations and gladly answered all our questions. He always is interested, not only in my health but also in me as a person, which gave me a genuine sense of comfort and security. In addition, he often asked if I needed anything and repeatedly reminded me to call him if I did. He was very kind to my wife also.
