I am so thankful that she was my nurse in general, but I was especially grateful for the way she made me feel completely at ease during the times when I was most uncomfortable.
From the first time Claudia came into my room, I could tell she was special. She always listened to me and then responded. She was not in a hurry and always cared about how I felt regarding the current circumstances. She also communicated with my wife whenever necessary. When I would get emotional and start to cry, she was right there to comfort me and would make sure that I was OK before she went on to something else or left the room. She was always upbeat and a joy to be around! When she had a day off in the middle of my care, I was disappointed. Then I found out that I could request her care again when she came back. That made me feel much better! The next days I had her for my care they had put me on complete bed rest. I had no idea that meant I could not use the toilet. When I had to go, she explained to me that I would have to use the bedpan. I had never done that in 70 years of life, and I was very apprehensive. When she assured me that it would be OK, I proceeded to give it a try. It was an absolute disaster from my point of view. I was so embarrassed that I had soiled the bed in the process. She was so calm and so sweet in dealing with the mishap. She quickly cleaned me up, changed the bed and did it in such a way that I was completely at ease through the process. She changed a very traumatic situation for me into a non-issue and helped me feel completely comfortable. When I was waiting for my final procedure to be scheduled, she kept me informed of the current status, and that kept me very comfortable. I am so thankful that she was my nurse in general, but I was especially grateful for the way she made me feel completely at ease during the times when I was most uncomfortable. She is an absolute gem of a nurse, and I was truly blessed to have her.
