Our son B was rushed to the PICU in Lubbock after suffering a brain bleed during football practice. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. From the moment we arrived, the care B received was outstanding—but one nurse truly stood out: Claire. Claire was nothing short of incredible. She not only took amazing care of B with skill and compassion, but she also looked after me in ways I didn't know I needed. She explained what was happening clearly, stayed calm and steady when I felt overwhelmed, and made sure we never felt alone. She constantly went above and beyond—making sure I had food, a warm blanket, a place to sit, and the reassurance to keep going. Her presence brought so much peace during an incredibly frightening time. B is now home and healing, and while that chapter is behind us, Claire's kindness and care will never be forgotten. She is the definition of what a nurse should be, and we are so thankful she was by our side. There is no doubt in our minds that Claire deserves the DAISY Award. Her compassion, strength, and heart made all the difference in our family's journey.
