Her kindness, creativity, and dedication to honoring her patients' journeys make her an outstanding example of nursing excellence.
I would like to nominate Claire Phillips for the DAISY Award because of the extraordinary compassion, dedication, and creativity she brings to her patients in radiation oncology. In addition to her excellent clinical skills, she has taken it upon herself to make each patient's journey a little brighter and more meaningful. For every patient completing brachytherapy, she handwrites personalized cards, using her own beautiful calligraphy on the front. These cards are not just notes; they are heartfelt keepsakes that remind patients how strong they are and how much their efforts are seen and valued. Recently, she even purchased medals to present to patients at the end of their treatment. She felt that the cards, while thoughtful, were not quite enough to honor the incredible strength and resilience her patients show in completing such a difficult therapy. This small but powerful gesture gives patients something tangible to celebrate their accomplishment and reminds them that what they endured was not easy, but truly courageous. Her compassion goes beyond the expected role of a nurse. She consistently finds ways to uplift, encourage, and celebrate her patients. She recognizes that oncology treatments can be overwhelming, and she makes it her mission to let every patient know they are not alone, that they are seen, supported, and deeply respected. Claire exemplifies what it means to be a DAISY nurse. Her kindness, creativity, and dedication to honoring her patients' journeys make her an outstanding example of nursing excellence. She truly goes above and beyond every single day, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
