I am part of the interventional Psychiatry team. Cinnamon King, RN, is a member of our nursing staff. Throughout my time on the team, we have made numerous improvements that would not have been possible without Cinnamon's efforts. She has significantly enhanced the esketamine experience for patients by relocating treatment from the PACU to an individual room on A4, a change that veterans have universally reported as an improvement. She has also helped me when referring a veteran to community care in finding a closer treatment facility that was more trauma-informed care for the veteran. Most importantly, the care that she provides our veterans who are having significant mental health issues. In implementing our new treatment room on A4, she was able to identify the most ideal layout to provide comfort for our veterans and most trauma-informed care, and minimize symptoms of hypervigilance. She is the contact point for veterans to reach should they need to be seen sooner and is so helpful in coordinating their care within our clinic as the veterans are able to turn to her when they would need to be seen sooner/change of schedule. She is also with the veterans in a very vulnerable state during their treatment and provides excellent care for them during these times, which is why so many are so comfortable around her. Our team would not have been able to accomplish nearly half of what we have achieved this year without her expertise.
