August 2026 Honoree
Cindy Cathey, RN
My husband was there for 16 days. For 3 straight days, he was blessed to have Cindy as his day shift nurse. I cannot think of one thing she could have done better to serve him during 3 of the hardest days of his life! Whenever she entered the room, she smiled and was ready to do whatever was needed. We were always greeted with her sweet hello and "Do y'all need anything?" You can't fake the level of compassion she showed us; she always went above and beyond her professional duties to encourage him, which no doubt helped us both mentally and emotionally. We had many conversations with Cindy, and I was amazed to learn she had only been an ICU nurse for about a year. She has definitely acquired a lot of skill in that time but, more importantly, by nature, shows the heart of a servant to her patients. My brother and I spent 12 hours a day in his room, and Cindy never made us feel like we were in the way or asked too many questions. On many days after that, Cindy wasn't assigned to his care, but she always found time, even at the end of her shift, to come by and check on him. This is the kind of thing that means the world to a patient and their family. We were so blessed by the outstanding care he received in the ICU as a whole, but are especially grateful for the compassion and heart that Cindy poured into her time caring for us. What a privilege to nominate this precious girl for the DAISY award!
Thank you, Cindy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
