Ciarra Farmer, MSN, RN

Ciarra is the embodiment of what an exceptional nurse, educator, and human being should be. I began working on 4 Main in February 2024, and from the very beginning Ciarra was my primary preceptor. At the same time that she was guiding me through my transition and growth as a nurse, she was also finishing her master’s degree and transitioning into her new role as Professional Practice Specialist. Balancing all these responsibilities, she never once made me feel like I was anything less than a priority.

Her dedication to education, leadership, and patient care is unmatched. Ciarra taught me everything I know. She is always patient, encouraging, and incredibly knowledgeable, taking time to explain not just the how, but the why behind everything we do. She fosters confidence in me and pushes me to grow while always being a steady, supportive presence.

Over time, our relationship has grown into so much more than preceptor and orientee- she has been a mentor, an educator, and a friend.

What makes her remarkable is that her impact extends far more than to me. She is a constant resource to everyone. No Matter how busy she is, she is always willing to answer questions, assist with learning about patients, help with procedures, or support staff in any way needed. She is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and approachable, creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning. Her passion for education and excellence is evident in everything she does.

Ciarra is also someone who never hesitates to jump in. At the bedside. Whether it’s placing an NG tube, responding to staff assist, helping calm a crying baby, or stepping into a chaotic situation, she is always there. She has an incredible ability to calm those around her, even in the most stressful moments. She is a ray of sunshine- steady, reassuring, and positive when we need it most.

When my father was sick and hospitalized, Ciarra went above and beyond in a way I will never forget. She went to my home and helped me care for my dad, something that speaks volumes about her compassion, selflessness, and genuine care for others. That level of kindness is not something that can be taught. It is who she is at her core.

Ciarra is an amazing nurse, an outstanding educator, and an exceptional leader. She leads by example, inspires confidence in others, and uplifts everyone around her. She deserves all the good things that come her way, and I truly believe that the DAISY Educator Award would exemplify her phenomenal leadership, dedication, and heart for nursing.

It is a privilege to work alongside her, to learn from her and call her not only a mentor, but a friend.
