Christy went above and beyond in her role as my nurse during my labor and delivery and has my deepest appreciation. I delivered my first baby and had the privilege of Christy being my nurse. From the beginning, when she got me from the waiting room, she was excellent. She talked with me through my goals and wishes for my labor and birth upon my arrival to the room, which made me feel honored in my care. While I didn’t have many wishes, she asked me if I’d like a midwife only or help from the OB residents. This was courteous of her to ask, as I know she didn’t necessarily have to ask that, and she advocated for me in my desire to have a midwife-only birth.

Christy was never rushed or pushy; she was gentle and incredibly encouraging and supportive. In fact, she made me feel like a champ, cheering me on every step of the way in my labor and delivery. Her support made me feel empowered, which was the best feeling, especially since this was my first time giving birth and also my first time as a patient in the hospital. Having her as my nurse made me feel safe and at ease. Christy talked up the other employees, such as the CRNA who did my epidural. Her talking up the other employees also provided confidence that I was in great hands, and that assurance was awesome to both me and my husband.

After I had my baby and was FaceTiming my family, Christy quickly said to them how amazing I did and how proud she was of me! She seriously made me feel like a million bucks. I cannot thank her enough. I am a nurse myself and understand the busyness and stress work can provide, but she made me feel like the only patient on the floor. I am lucky to have had Christy as my nurse, and I had such a positive birth experience!
