This nurse is one of our former techs who transitioned to a nurse and has been one of our shining stars. 

Every day, he comes in with a positive attitude, is ready to work, and is a true team player. When I round on patients, he is constantly being recognized for his attentiveness and compassionate care. 

Most recently, he took care of a transitioning hospice patient, and the care he gave was so great that I had to share. After the patient passed, he took extra time and cared for the family during their most vulnerable time. He was empathetic and patient. We often have to gauge how to respond to best support, and he took the time to be sure the family was seen and heard and ended the encounter with a hug. 

When the family left, I assisted with post-mortem care, and even then, he remained gentle. He played music for us, making a typically dismal situation not seem so sad. I can admit I am slightly sensitive about end-of-life care because of my own personal experience, and this nurse was everything that I would have wanted in a nurse taking care of my loved one. 

The respect, kindness, and compassion he displays on a daily basis aren’t something learned in school; they are the fibers of his being that make him a great nurse and, overall, a great person. We appreciate all you bring to the unit, you are appreciated!
