She worked tirelessly to help my labor progress and became such a trusted companion.
I was a week past due with my first baby and had to have an induction, which wasn’t my plan A. After a rough night, Christine entered my room with the exact energy I needed. She said, “We’re here to have a baby,” and in that moment, she made me feel so empowered. Christine never left my side for her entire 12 hour shift. She had me work out, she talked me through some difficult decisions about pain management, and always advocated on my behalf, even when my choices differed from her opinion. She worked tirelessly to help my labor progress and became such a trusted companion. I was blown away by her dedication and expertise. She eased every fear I had during my first delivery, and all in all, my induction only took 1.5 days when everyone told me it would take 3. Christine clocked out at night, and I delivered the following morning (as she predicted I would), and 2 hours after delivery, Christine came in to check on me and meet my baby before she even clocked herself in. I will never forget the major role Christine played in what is now the best day of my entire life. Everyone says you blur out the memory of birth, but Christine’s care and dedication to me as her patient will be a memory I cherish for my entire life.

I was life-flighted into the hospital at 19 weeks pregnant. I was terrified of losing my little girl and going into sepsis. Every 24 hours was a victory for me and my baby girl. I had the absolute privilege of having Christine as my nurse. I understand many nurses are working long hours and hard days but that didn't stop Christine from providing me the best care, constantly checking my pads for infection, never failed to be on time for my meds, and when requested for assistance she was right there or communicating that she would be in within a certain time to assist me and my needs. She was extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to explain to me what was happening. While hospitalized, I had failed attempts for blood draws and IV placement. She was the only nurse who could get any blood out of me without an ultrasound. It became quite a traumatic experience after so many failed attempts; she really advocated for me and my mental health. She knew what days I was mentally struggling and provided extra support and more frequent checks in my room. I owe so much of my healthy mental status to her, my general health, and so much more. I can honestly say I wouldn't be where I am today if it were not for her. I still have a long journey ahead, but I will never forget nurse Christine, whom I would clock watch to come back on shift. She impacted my life in such a way that words cannot describe. I pray one day I am able to bring my baby girl back to SF to personally thank her. Regardless the outcome I will never forget this nurse.
