During this crisis, Christine has been our anchor, our advocate and our guide.
Our world was shattered when my wife was admitted to the CCU with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. She had been perfectly healthy, and we had no idea that she had diabetes. The shock and fear our family felt was overwhelming.
During this crisis, Christine has been our anchor, our advocate, and our guide. Christine didn’t just see a patient in crisis; she saw a family in shock and treated us as essential members of the care team.
She drew both my mother-in-law (an RN) and sister-in-law into the conversation, asking for their input on her comfort. She actively listened to all our suggestions and allowed us to be active in her care. Christine had sharp clinical skills and fierce advocacy that truly protected my wife. When there were subtle changes, she immediately and confidently addressed her concerns with the physicians and was a true guardian at her bedside.
Her actions are a masterclass in the CoxHealth values.
• We felt true Safety, knowing her expert eyes were watching over my wife, and Christine had the courage to advocate for her.
• We felt her Compassion as she guided us through the emotional turmoil of this new diagnosis.
• She showed profound Respect by treating my mother-in-law as a valued colleague and empowering all of us to participate in her care.
• Her Integrity shone through her fearless advocacy, always putting her patients’ needs first.
For a nurse to earn the complete trust of another nurse while guiding a family through a sudden trauma is the highest praise imaginable; it is the embodiment of your vision “To be the best for those who need us,” and we wholeheartedly believe she deserves the DAISY Award.
