I would like to recognize Barbara and Chris from the NICU for the incredible care, compassion, and support they gave my family during one of the most emotional and vulnerable times of our lives.

Having a baby in the NICU is something no parent ever imagines or hopes for. It was a dark and scary time for us, but Barbara and Chris brought so much light, comfort, and hope into our experience. From the very beginning, they made us feel calm, capable, and supported every single day.

Barbara was actually the very first person my husband met after my C-section, when he followed our baby down to the NICU. That moment left an everlasting impression on him. In a time filled with fear and uncertainty, Barbara met him with kindness, reassurance, and compassion. She made him feel hopeful when everything felt so overwhelming.

After my baby was able to come up and see me for a short time, he unfortunately had to be readmitted because of temperature instability and blood sugar concerns. That was when I personally got to know Barbara and Chris more closely.

One thing I appreciated so deeply was their honesty. They always gave us the reality of situations without creating false expectations, while still somehow making us feel hopeful and strong at the same time.

The care they gave us went far beyond medical treatment. They created a private, closed-off space so I could learn how to breastfeed, have skin-to-skin time, and simply bond with my baby and husband in peace. They constantly made sure we were comfortable by offering us snacks, water, pillows, and anything else we needed. They worked around us as parents and never once made us feel rushed or like we had to put our baby down.

As first-time parents, we were terrified and unsure of ourselves, but Barbara and Chris taught us everything with patience and encouragement. They showed us how to wash bottles, change diapers, care for our baby’s belly button, feed him properly, hold him comfortably, and the best positions for different situations. They empowered us instead of making us feel inadequate.

Their compassion and dedication changed our NICU experience forever. They cared for our baby as if he were their own, and they cared for us as people, not just patients.

Barbara and Chris will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and I truly cannot imagine getting through that experience without them.

Thank you, Christine, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
