Good leadership is hard to find, and Christina manages it in a manner that appears effortless.
Christina was my preceptor when I was newly qualified; she guided me through the challenges of the newly qualified nurse as well as the challenges of the acute assessment ward, always lifting me up rather than putting me down. She then became my sister and continued to maintain this level of support whilst adapting to the trust's changes and managing their impact on staff and patients.
Christina is now my matron and always takes the time to hear my team's concerns. She supports ongoing improvement and inspires staff to be changemakers. She is a positive role model for all trust staff and maintains a positive image whilst remaining approachable and enthusiastic. Christina wants to provide the best care to our patients and ensure the staff are supported in doing this. She had an excellent working relationship with the doctors and encouraged them to try new methods to provide excellent care whilst supporting the trust's flow demand.
Good leadership is hard to find, and Christina manages it in a manner that appears effortless. I really want to acknowledge how fantastic Christina is. I completely rely on her to ensure that we have clear confirmation and challenge regarding discharges, and if there is a ward I am worried about in terms of medical treatment plans, she is the first person I think of to go and assure me that all is in hand. This is because I have the utmost respect and confidence in Christina, so I never ever doubt any feedback I receive from her.
Christina never shies away from difficult asks and really challenges some of our more entrenched medics, in a way I truly admire. Christina is recognised from a national perspective for all of these skills and as a very strong matron, as I know for a fact that all members of the ECIST team who have had the privilege of working with her or observing Christina have fed back how fantastic she is.
Christina is absolutely, in my eyes, a mover, and the only glass ceiling is one she imposes on herself.Christina is absolutely, in my eyes, a mover, and the only glass ceiling is one she imposes on herself. She truly is a tremendous asset not just to urgent care but across the trust. Within the site, we collectively always feel better when Christina is on a shift; that is the effect she has.
