I was admitted to the hospital for observation for abdominal pain, r/o GI bleed and unexplained weight loss. When I got to my room, I was greeted by my nurse Tina Shelton. Tina was welcoming and put me at ease the minute I got into the room. As a retired nurse, I immediately knew I was in the hands of a caring, knowledgeable, confident nurse, which I believe helps with the healing process.
Tina was very thorough in explaining every procedure that she was about to perform and as soon as I arrived in my room they informed her that I needed to be prepped for an Endoscopy; she immediately orchestrated everything that needed to be done to get me to my procedure. I needed lab work, EKG and Tina needed to do her assessment of me which she was able to perform under pressure in such an impressive way, she was calm, confident and caring. She informed me when she was going off duty to see if I needed anything. I really can't say enough positive things about her as a nurse.
Also, Tina was my nurse the next morning; she came in happy and eager to get started for the day. When it was time for my discharge she sat down and explained all my discharge paperwork to me in a way the was easy to comprehend. She was very efficient in getting me discharged. As a nurse for 30 some years, I have high standards of care and I can honestly say Tina sets the bar high for anyone who wants to excel in nursing, which is the way it's supposed to be.
Tina sets the example of compassion, commitment and diligence and thoughtful care in everything that she did. She is a great asset to Carroll Hospital Center, and I hope she stays employed with your organization for a long time, she is what a hospital needs to provide wonderful care to this community. Thank You, Tina!
