I want to recognize Christina for her dedication to all patients and collaboration with peers. Christina makes time to go the extra mile for peers. She is constantly stepping up to help someone she sees struggling or, at the very least, checks in with them. I have seen Christina jump up to help patients who were not in her bundle because their RN was unable to help. I have never heard Christina say “that’s not my patient,” but instead finds out the appropriate information and assists in whatever way needed. She comes to work with a positive attitude that radiates through to everyone else. She speaks so kindly to every patient and visitor, even when met with disgruntlement. This weekend, I watched Christina calmly de-escalate a discharge against medical advice. She took the time to listen to why the patient wanted to leave and created a solution so the patient agreed to stay one more night. Though the patient ended up leaving the next day against medical advice, the patient left calmly and cooperatively, which is not always the case, and I believe that it was due to how Christina had built rapport with the patient the day prior. I also witnessed Christina noticing that one peer was just a little busier than others. She had just finished a task, and instead of just moving on, Christina took a moment to check in with that peer and offer help to get caught up. We feel so supported while working with Christina, and she makes every effort to recognize us for the things she notices and deserves the recognition right back!
