Any family member who sees Christie is their loved one's nurse should know they are in great hands.
There are countless instances where Christie displays compassionate and personalized, and attentive care to patients. One story that exemplifies this happened recently. A young patient was admitted and was very scared. He said he never had any idea what was going on and was getting very frustrated with the physicians to the point where he was on the verge of leaving for two days. He said the only reason that he stayed was because of Christie.

She actually sat down and explained everything to him in a way that he could understand. He said she treated him like a person and not just a number.  She was the reason he received the care he needed and stayed until he was appropriately discharged.  This patient, due to his fear, could come across as withdrawn and even unwilling to cooperate, but Christie literally looks way beyond things like that.

In fact, Christie has a unique way of always being able to reach these types of patients. Above and beyond care like this does not go unnoticed, even though she would consider this extra time, effort, and advocacy as just part of her job.  And that is just one small example!

Another time, just recently, I personally witnessed Christie provide the kind of tenacious yet respectful patient advocacy every nurse should strive for. In two separate cases in one week, Christie had elderly patients who needed more attention than they were receiving. Christie spent a lot of extra time professionally and compassionately providing support for family members who were obviously struggling with the emotional weight of their loved one's illness.

Christie ensured the proper consults were ordered by placing multiple calls to multiple doctors, when others may have just given up after being told no once or even twice. Christie always stands by what is right for her patients, even if it takes her entire shift, and sometimes two! These are just a few small examples of the fierce advocacy that Christie displays for her patients on a daily basis. Any family member who sees Christie is their loved one's nurse should know they are in great hands.
