My recent labs pointed to a kidney issue. I learned that Swedish Hospital had Renal specialists, and First Hill ER physicians would know what to do. My wife and I hastily left Renton and headed for the Swedish First Hill Emergency Room (ER). I checked into Swedish First Hill ER at 6:45 PM. Although ER was overflowing with a waiting list of patients, all Swedish staff were courteous from security persons, to check-in receptionist to Triage RN.

I am writing to nominate Christian Warner, RN, who provided ER care to me that evening and the next morning before I was transferred by stretcher to the Nephrology Department for a 6-day stay. Christian explained to me and my wife of 60 years the procedures ordered for my diagnosis. Christian did all he could to provide comfort to my wife and me during the 12-hour ER visit. Christian understood my wife needed to be at my side to tell doctors the history of my illness. Christian knew we had no food for 9 hours and found us a sandwich to share. Christian remarked that he had never met anyone who had been married for 60 years. The ER doctor was also skillful! They did the work up, admitted me to the Nephrology Unit, and put me on the path to recovery.

I want to thank all Swedish First Hill staff. Including my Cardiac Doctor and his staff, who collectively saved my life the year of my 60th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you kindly.
