March 2026 Honoree
Christi Mansfield, LPN
My husband was admitted to Lake Regional Hospital through the Emergency Department. He was transferred to the 2 East Med Surg unit. Over the course of his stay, he was moved to PCU, transferred back to 2 East, moved to ICU, and finally back to 2 East to the Serenity Suite, where he passed away.
One of the first people we encountered was our nurse Christi. Over 16 days, we were blessed to have her as our nurse multiple times. I have been in the health care field my entire life, so I understand the levels of care for patients and their families. She went far beyond routine care and did everything in her power to keep my husband comfortable; she also looked after me and the other family members staying with him 24 hours a day. Christi would come in the morning and say, "Here is our plan for the day." She wanted to be sure he was not in pain or struggling to breathe and used every tool to make that happen. She would always say to me, "We've got him, and I've got you. Are you eating? Did you sleep?"
He passed away just as her shift was ending. Instead of leaving she stayed and assisted me through the final good bye. I will be eternally grateful for her and her care and compassion. She deserves this award and so much more.
