Christen’s commitment to nursing excellence is evident in the positive outcomes of many of the new processes and supportive structures that Christen has put into place, including peer feedback and self-appraisal for our clinical nurses and the creation of our ridiculously amazing Magnet Ambassador team.
Christen joined South Sacramento in late 2022, and has excelled, at a fast pace, in her role as our Magnet Program Director (MPD). While Christen has been a highly qualified Nurse Leader for many years, this was her first MPD role. It took a lot of courage and bravery to join a new organization, in a new role, that was planning to submit documents for Magnet just eight months into her role. Christen accepted this challenge head-on and helped to lead our organization to become the first organization in the world to achieve Magnet recognition with Distinction! In her short time here, Christen has garnered the love and support of many teams, from our frontline staff to senior leaders. Christen’s commitment to nursing excellence is evident in the positive outcomes of many of the new processes and supportive structures that Christen has put into place, including peer feedback and self-appraisal for our clinical nurses and the creation of our ridiculously amazing Magnet Ambassador team. Christen is truly a distinguished member of our nursing leadership team at SSC!

***

Christen is a valuable member of our team. She is welcoming, helpful, and always willing to meet and mentor our new MPDs. She has been instrumental in helping as a resource and in the professional growth of our newer MPDs as they acclimate to their roles. Christen gladly shares her expertise and tools from her years of experience as an MPD to help elevate patient outcomes and the professional development of our nurses throughout the region. She is an absolute joy to work with and is highly respected among her peers. Christen is the Chair of the newly formed MPD Community of Practice, and she leads with grace. Christen embodies the very heart of Nursing, and we are so very fortunate she joined our KP family!
