My dad is the patient, but illness and injury are hard on the whole family. What Chrissy did relieved one little worry from me that morning and somehow made everything else feel a little lighter.
My dad has been a patient on the 4th floor for over a week now while recovering from two circulation surgeries on his legs. Due to his age and other health issues, he is not necessarily an “easy” patient to care for in terms of labor. He has needed a lot of care, diligence, and patience at times.
Chrissy has been his nurse several times in the last week, and she has truly gone above and beyond, as a skilled nursing professional and human being. She has provided excellent medical care, kept us informed with future diagnostics he may be receiving, expected doctor visits, and what to anticipate on his road to recovery.
Beyond taking outstanding medical care of my dad, she did something for my mom that means the world to me! My mom’s been having medical issues of her own and having difficulty walking. Chrissy noticed that she did not have any breakfast when she was in my dad’s room. As busy as she was, Chrissy walked down to the cafeteria because my mom could not make the walk and brought her back bacon, eggs, and coffee.
This may sound small, but I still tear up thinking about it. Due to work, I was not able to be at the hospital till noon that day; I worried that she would not have anything to eat before then. My dad is the patient, but illness and injury are hard on the whole family. What Chrissy did relieved one little worry from me that morning and somehow made everything else feel a little lighter. From my personal experience, there is no nurse more deserving of recognition for the job that she is doing for the hospital, her patients, and their loved ones than Chrissy Schneider.
