We had an amazing group of primary nurses, but Chloe Villeneuve was the one we interacted with the most. We lost our baby boy due to his complex medical problems. We have so much peace, though, and a lot has to do with our nurses. Chloe loved our son so much. She gave us peace of mind every day. We knew she was with him and was a fierce advocate for him for many months. Not only did she advocate for him and take amazing care of him, but she also encouraged my husband and me, giving us confidence in our role as his parents. She was with us until the very end. We told her how we felt guilty about having one of his primaries with us on his last day, as it felt mean. But she expressed how much of an honor it would be to be a part of that moment, even though it’s difficult. That gave us so much comfort and just really touched me. Chloe, I believe, is an amazing example of what it is to be a nurse, and she goes above and beyond her role to help not only the patients she’s taking care of but the families involved.
