When I was struggling mentally after surgery and needed time alone, she advocated for me and made sure my wishes regarding visitors were respected, allowing me the space I needed to process everything that had happened.
I was a patient in the ICU after coming into the ER at 22 years old for dizziness, only to have my world completely turned upside down when a head CT revealed a brain mass. I was transferred to Baptist Health Louisville and admitted to the ICU, where Chloe was my nurse for multiple days.

Within a very short time, I underwent two brain surgeries and went from being a fully functioning, healthy young adult to feeling like I had lost myself and not even being able to use the bathroom alone. This was an incredibly mentally and emotionally challenging time for me.

Chloe’s care during this period was truly exceptional. She never once made me feel like a burden and consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, heard, and supported. When I was struggling mentally after surgery and needed time alone, she advocated for me and made sure my wishes regarding visitors were respected, allowing me the space I needed to process everything that had happened.

One night, I was unable to sleep because I was extremely uncomfortable in bed and, honestly, just uncomfortable in my body. When I told Chloe what was going on, she didn’t hesitate to help. She took the time to come up with a specific way to arrange pillows around my head and body that finally brought me relief. She even made sure my future nurses knew exactly how my pillows needed to be arranged for me to sleep. It may seem like a small thing, but at that moment, it meant everything to have someone take the time to truly care about my comfort.

When my head wrap was removed, it was emotionally difficult for me as a young woman to see my shaved head. Chloe was there for me during that moment. She took a picture on my phone so I could see it myself and even braided what hair I had left, helping me feel a sense of dignity during a very vulnerable time.

Chloe’s compassion, advocacy, and genuine kindness made one of the hardest experiences of my life more bearable. She provided not only excellent nursing care, but also emotional support that I will never forget. I am deeply grateful for the role she played in my recovery.
